The May 2008 Tatton Park Car Show was much drier than last year, but I still failed miserably to take many pictures. As my Mk2 was away at Rogue Motorsport having it's Link G3 and other bits fitted, and my project Mk1 is in many, many pieces, I needed another MR2 to take to the show. Fortunately, I'd sold my Golf TDi the week before, and had just picked up a new white Mk1 T-Bar, so I took that with me. As the brakes needed some work, I decided to do the work at the show (2 days with nothing else to do but eat burgers, and the car needed some machine polishing so spending all weekend waxing would be a waste of time). So, with a scissor jack and my tools, I replaced the front discs and pads, checking and cleaning / greasing all the sliders. All were good! I checked and greased the rears, which were fine. I then flushed through the brake fluid (the old stuff looked like mud!), and bled the brakes. They work MUCH better now, I think the ancient fluid was the main cause of my problems. Anyway, that took most of Saturday, and it rained most of Sunday, so that's my excuse for the lack of pictures. I'll do better at the August show! The only other pics I took! Lee's spotless purple Mk2 (which won best Mk2 prize), Jon's freshly restored mint black Mk1a, and Karren's black Mk3 sporting a nice quad exit exhaust (check out the reflection!) Although I didn't get all the photo's I should have, Pam & Cyril from MR2 Only Magazine were at the show and will be featuring it in Issue 11 of MR2 Only. |
