A shrine to all things MR2...

I've always been interested in photography, and the equipment that you use.

My first real camera was Sigma 300N, which was a 35mm SLR, I had a couple of lenses, a normal telephoto, and a 80-300mm macro lens.

Many years later, I bought a Contax S2 10th Anniversary 35mm SLR. This was a titanium bodied, fully manual camera, and with a selection of Carl Zeiss prime lenses, gave outstanding results.
I then bought a Nikon F5, which was a superb piece of kit, however it never felt as nice to use as the Contax. I was spending a lot of money on film and developing / printing.

Digital cameras were coming along, and after many compacts, including the Panasonic LC1 (same as the Leica Digilux 2), I bought a Nikon D70. I then traded that in for a D200, using a wedding shoot as an excuse to buy it.

Currently I'm using a Nikon D300, which I find significantly better again than the D200. ISO performance is particularly impressive. I also carry a Fuji F30 compact, which again has excellent low light capability, something none of the non Fuji compacts I've used can compare to.

So, current kit list is:

Nikon D300

Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 AF-S ED VR - Great, versitile lens, does it all. High ISO performance on the D300 makes up for the smaller aperture of this lens.

Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 AF-S G VR - Superb optics, lightning fast focus, excellent vibration reduction. Weighs a ton :)

Nikon 50mm f/1.4 AF-D - Every bag should have a standard prime. On a DX format camera, this is equivalent to 75mm, which makes a perfect portrait lens.

Tokina 12-24mm f/4 IF DX - 98% as good as the Nikon version, but half the price.

Sigma 50mm f/2.8 D Macro - I've not done much Macro stuff, and would love the Nikon VR macro lenses, but for now, this is just fine.

Nikon TC-20EII 2x Teleconverter - Makes my 70-200 f/2.8 a 140-400. On the DX format camera, this is equivalent to a 210-600mm f/5.6 lens. BIG telephoto :)

Nikon Speedlight SB-600 Flash - Great flashgun, might get a SB-800 as well.

Fuji Finepix F30 Compact - Excellent compact, has manual settings, and excellent ISO performance.

Mamiya RZ67 Pro2 Medium Format Camera, 120 Back, 110mm Lens - A beast! I've not had chance to play with this yet, but couldn't pass up a bargin.

Tripods etc..
