A shrine to all things MR2...
   Radio Controlled Cars

As a kid, probably about 10 years old, I got into Radio Controlled cars.

My first car was a Tamiya Wild One, a great 2WD buggy that looked like a real off road racer.

Then I had a Striker, which was a lousy car as the chassis snapped at the slightest bump.

I then bought a Boomerang, which was an excellent 4WD off road car. I raced with this quite a bit.

I then got a job in a local model shop on Saturdays, on many occasions, my job consisted of building cars for customers. Dream job! Built dozens of Frogs, Hornets, Boomerangs, Bigwigs, and others too.

I then bought a Tamiya Vanquish, and now I had a bit more money available (still only ~15), I bought all the upgrades for the Vanquish, including the Hi-Cap dampers and Carbon chassis kit. I raced this too.

Then I got into computers, and sold my car to fund a 100MB hard disk!

Now I've got a real job, I decided I wanted to re-buy the cars I've owned in the past.
I've now collected the following, mainly sourced off eBay:-

- Tamiya Blazing Star: Bought this as my first RC car just after I bought my house. Good, easy, cheap 4WD off road buggy
- Tamiya Toyota MR-S Racing: It's an MR2, a Tamiya, and Radio Controlled. I had to. I've actually got two, one is unbuilt. Bought every upgrade for it, carbon bits everywhere, goes like a rocket on carpet. Raced it a couple of times at the local indoor RC track, but they've closed down now (and I couldn't compete with the kids!)
- Tamiya Wild One: These are getting very rare now. I found one that had been re-built with 95% new parts, and is effectively new and un-used. They're a lot more expensive than they used to be!
- Tamiya Boomerang: Again, getting rare now. I bought one on eBay that is in OK condition but used. I've sourced pretty much all new parts for it, including a new bodyshell. Need to re-build it sometime.
- Tamiya Vanquish: Also rare. This one is pretty clean, again I've managed to source a load of new bits, but parts like new bodyshells are very hard to find. Would like to have built it up to the same standard as my first one, but the Carbon chassis kit was rare, and the Hi-Cap dampers are hard to source now.
- Tamiya Hotshot: Tamiya re-released the Hotshot recently, and as it's a classic, I had to add it to the collection. Built up, just needs the shell painting.
- Tamiya DT02-MS: A light 2WD racing buggy. Still in it's box.
